Junior Academy

Area 48 holds a Junior Academy, which is open to all rider up to the age of 18, riding either horses or ponies.

The aim of the Academy is to provide progressive coaching helping improve riding skills & horse knowledge.

The Junior Academy Co-ordinator, Maria Gibson, arranges various training sessions throughout the year.

All sessions are held with an experienced BSJA Accredited/UKCC Level 3 Showjumping Coach & last for an hour & a half. Session times vary between 10.00am & 4.30pm & cost £25.00. After the first 3 sessions a log book is provided to follow each riders progression.

Pony Proficiency Test

The Junior Academy can also assist you in preparing for your Pony Proficiency Test which is required  if you would like to be considered for International selection or Home Pony International 138cm and 148cm teams.

“The Pony Proficiency Award consists of riding, handling and interview sections, which assess basic riding and horsemanship, All candidates who pass will receive a certificate and badge from the BSJA and every year the five top scoring riders in the country are presented with a £100 training scholarship.” BS
